Vehicle Impound Facility wins Capstone award. The City of Kansas
City, Mo., Vehicle Impound Facility, 7750 E. Front St., has won a 2009 Capstone Award from the Kansas City Business Journal
in the category of Green Design. The Capstone awards recognize real estate development projects and transactions that enhance
the Kansas City metropolitan area. Awards will be handed out April 3. The
facility, which opened in January, is currently on track to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold rating,
making it the City's highest rated LEED-certified building. A LEED certification is determined by a third-party group that
evaluates projects based on established criteria for sustainability in a number of different categories, such as sustainable
sitework, water and energy efficiency, emissions and air quality.
